General Meetings
Next meeting 9 November 2010, 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall. All are welcome!
Annual General Meeting 14th July 2010
The AGM was well attended with over 30 people turning up. We gained some new members and were thoroughly entertained by a talk from Hugh Merrett, the Vice-President of Roeshot Hill Allotment site in Christchurch. He regaled us with tales from their allotment site and also provided us lots of useful information to help us in our quest!
A new committee was elected, with two new members joining the committee - Norman Marrison and John Reeves. We are very pleased to welcome them to the committee. We also elected a new Chair (Bill Seymour) and Vice Chair (Eric Burton). We said goodbye with our thanks to the founding Chair of VAHA Jon Pearson and committee member John Weaver.
We also voted to adopt a revised version of the Verwood and Three Legged Cross Allotment Holders Association Constitution. Click here to see it.

One of the most exciting developments to come from the AGM was the suggestion that we look into setting up a Co-operative. The committee have taken on this idea with enthusiasm and will report on progress at the October meeting. To help us with this strategy we have been lucky enough to persuade Corwen Bloch to join the committee. Corwen has some experience of Co-operatives and will be invaluable to us.
Thursday 22 April 2010
The 5th general meeting of VAHA was held on Thursday 22nd April at the Memorial Hall in Verwood.
It was an excellent meeting with around 40 members attending. We held a successful plant sale where many people picked up excellent value tomatoes, peppers and chillis grown by VAHA committee members.
There was exciting news on a new potential site (
read more here), and also on a project that we are starting. This involves an organic farm down Matchams Lane where the farmer is happy to lend us a 5 acre field (kindly ploughed) in return for a share of the harvest we grow. A group of about 10 people have said that they would like to be involved in this project and are beginning to sow the initial seeds to get this project underway. If you are interested in joining this project please let us know.
Please see the
minutes of the meeting for further details on all areas discussed.
